About 32 Beach Productions:
a first person account by founder and
author James Abro
In 2006, I rented a home in Ocean
Grove New Jersey from Gloria
DeRouen (pictured below), during which time I wrote a
novel/memoir called A Summer in Time (to be published shortly on this
website).
Afterwards, Gloria and I became friends and together we’d host small
get-togethers and larger parties. As many of our mutual friends were
artists, musicians and eccentrics, the gatherings and parties would
often turn into impromptu performance events, with people sharing what
they’d created in prose, performance or song.
We began to schedule these events and call them 32 Beach Productions.
Hence the name of this website as well as its intention: to inspire and
foster creative virtual impromptu sharing among expressive people.
32 Beach is an actual place, a 150-year-old petite Victorian manse
located just a block away from the rollicking Atlantic Ocean. Since its
inception in the 19th Century, the small beachfront town of Ocean Grove
has been a refuge for people seeking spiritual respite, and intent on
pursuing alternative lifestyles as well as endeavoring in fresh
artistic expressions and eccentric pastimes.
So far, the website is only offering works done by me:
- A mystical biography about a young man who came to
America from India in 1960 with virtually no financial resources and
ended up becoming the impresario of the largest and most successful
yoga and holistic health center in the world - An American Yoga: The Kripalu Story
- A quartet
of novels that range in themes from what it was like to grow
up at the time of the ‘race riots’ in America (Baby!), to a satire of
our present convoluted and failing financial system, (New Millennium
Jitters).
- And my latest work, and closest to my heart; part
memoir, part guide for caregivers: An Almost Unbearable Heartache.
Bien venue!
